How low can Travel Prices Go????
Ask anyone who’s been in the travel industry for several years about the low prices being promoted right now and they will probably agree that 2009 has seen some of the lowest prices ever for destinations that have previously commanded premium pricing. Not only are the prices low, but many resorts and cruise lines are also giving guests credits for purchases made at the resort or onboard the ship, essentially reducing the cost of the vacation even further.
The general softness in the economy has also affected airline travel to places such as Hawaii and Europe, meaning there are more air seats available at reasonable prices than last year. Couple this with the discounts the hotels and resorts are offering, and you have one very reasonable vacation cost!
Not interested in flying? Living in the state of Florida affords us a luxury that many do not have; the proximity to multiple cruise ports and the vacation destinations they offer. Cruises, in particular, have been drastically reducing the prices on cabins this year in order to sail “full”. Because more people waited to book until the last minute this year, many are also offering reduced fares for bookings made six or more months in advance. Some are even guaranteeing that this will be the lowest price offered.
Even the travel insurance companies have added products to their lists to include job loss protection. This enables people to still book a vacation and know they are “covered” if they lose their job.
Fall months typically offer better deals than peak months and this year is certainly no exception. There are still a few months left in the year to take that desperately needed vacation or just take advantage of the great deals!
The easiest way to find the best deals is to ask a travel specialist/agent to monitor prices on your favorite destinations or itineraries and let you know when they find a great price on the trip you want. It’s sort of like watching the stock market, without the pain.
